Progress in the Development of the Nb₃Sn MQXFB Quadrupole for the HiLumi Upgrade of the LHC

The high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) requires new high field and large-aperture quadrupole magnets for low-beta inner triplets (MQXF). With a nominal operating gradient 132.2 T/m in 150 mm aperture conductor peak 11.3 T, are based on Nb 3 Sn superconducting technology. After series short models constructed close collaboration by LARP (LHC Accelerator Research Program) CERN, development program is entering production phase with CERN one side US Upgrade Project (US-AUP) other assembling testing full-length magnets.
